CinemaNexus: video collection records(tm) for Windows(tm) 3.1+ ---------------------------------------------------------------- v2.5 a product of RCCO Research ---------------------------------------------------------------- To install this Windows(tm) program on your computer (see Important Installation Note below *before* installing): 1. Start Windows. 2. Insert Disk 1 in either Drive A: or Drive B:. 3. Select File>>Run from the Program Manager main menu. Type A:SETUP or B:SETUP, depending on which drive contains the installation diskette, then select . As an alternative, you may open the File Manager, select the drive containing Disk 1 and launch the file SETUP.EXE by double-clicking on the file name. 4. Follow the Setup instructions on the screen. Answer each question, then click the button. Program requirements: 80386sx or greater, 2mb memory minimum (4mb or more recommended), 3.4mb available hard disk space; DOS 3.1 or greater, Windows(tm) v3.1 (or greater) running in Enhanced Mode. 640x480 VGA recommended. *IMPORTANT* INSTALLATION NOTE ------------------------------ The DOS program SHARE.EXE should be loaded before using this program, even on single-user systems. SHARE is needed to prevent simultaneous access to the primary database subsystem by an inadvertent launching of another instance of this program. With the multitasking capabilities of Windows(tm) 3.1+ operating in Enhanced Mode, it is *possible* that a user could at some point during a Windows session attempt to launch a second instance of this program. The user's data residing in this program's database subsystem would become irreparably corrupted. SHARE is designed to prevent such an occurrence. This program's SETUP will check for the presence of SHARE.EXE on the user's system; if not found, it will prompt the user for permission to automatically add it to the autoexec.bat file. SETUP will also install a Microsoft-authorized copy of a late version of SHARE.EXE if it is found to be needed. (The user may wish to edit the autoexec.bat to specify that SHARE be loaded high in order to save conventional memory.) The existence of SHARE in memory should present no conflicts while using other DOS and Windows programs and ordinarily may be present at all times; a DOS manual may be consulted for details on the benefits of using SHARE.EXE. Update: As an alternative to running the DOS program SHARE.EXE at all times, Windows 3.1 users may also use the Windows VSHARE.386 device driver, a copy of which may be found on Installation Disk 1. It must, however, be installed and running *prior* to running this program's Setup or Setup will install a copy of SHARE.EXE (which is not needed if VSHARE.386 is used when running Windows 3.1 or greater). Copy the file VSHARE.386 from Installation Disk 1 over to your Windows System directory (for example, C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM) and add the following line to your SYSTEM.INI file (located in the Windows directory, usually C:\WINDOWS), under the section labeled [386Enh], preferably as the first line: device=vshare.386 Save the change and *restart* Windows for the change to take effect. You may then run this program's Setup as well as the program itself. If the user is utilizing the Windows for Workgroups(tm) system or a version of Windows greater than Windows 3.1, VSHARE.386 should already be running on the system. Additional notes: ----------------- Please note that this program is not one that may be run from a File Manager by double-clicking on an executable file name. The required command-line parameters will not be available to the program in this manner. To run the program, click on the program's icon in Program Manager (or other shell). If you wish to know (or record for archival purposes) the needed parameters, you may view the Properties option for the program item in the Program Manager.
